When Heather and I got a Wii we also picked up a Nyko Charging Dock, figuring it made sense to have rechargeable batteries for the Wii Controllers. The Nyko unit appears to be really slick, it comes with a docking station, two battery packs and replacement back covers for the controllers. The back covers are rubberized so it gives a bit better grip and has a slot so you can put them in on the charger.

All in all it appears to be a good package except one problem the first unit we purchased one of the battery packs was dead. I though ok that was odd, but it can happen so we exchanged it for a new unit. Well this afternoon I finally got around to checking the second battery pack that was in the replacement unit and it is dead also.
I am pretty sure I am doing everything right when I take the dead pack out of the controller and put in normal batteries the controller works fine. Similarly if I take the good pack out and put in the dead pack in the controller that controller dies. I have left the dead battery in the charging station for over a week and it reporting as being fully charged.

So it looks like I have had two packages both of which have had a dead battery pack in, I now have the question the quality of the product. I did some reading on the internet and a lot of people really like the product but there are also a lot of people complaining that the batteries get extremely hot and other issues.
I plan on returning my Nyko Charing Dock tomorrow and getting my money back, I may try another docking station, or just pick up some rechargeable batteries. Really disappointed in this product and I must say I will think twice before I buy any Nyko products.

Here is a fix for the problem you are having. It is in the wii mote and not the Nyko Charger. Go to this address and follow the steps. Then make a blog post that tells me how great I am. LOL.

Thanks Shane for posting on my blog, I did not need try this. When I returned the second they gave me a third unit and both batteries work in all four of my controllers.
But again thanks for the tip!
