The BlackBerry 8700 is basically one generation newer than my old 7290 but the 8700 is such a much nicer unit. The appearance of the 8700 is a lot nicer it looks more modern where my old hand held looked like it was made by fisher price.
I also find that the 8700 is much faster reading emails, opening attachments, scrolling etc. The phone reception seems to be a bit better it still is not great but it noticeably improved. One big improvement is that the Bluetooth capability on the 8700 is vastly improved over the 7290. I have a Plantronics Discovery 655 which unlike I thought I would in my previous post I have not managed to loose yet or break! I found that with the 7290 the connection to ear piece would drop for no apparent reason and that I had to reconnect the ear piece. I am not having near the same level of difficulties now that I have upgraded to the Black Berry 8700.
So in short I am really happy with my 8700 and I am looking forward to yet another technology upgrade when we move providers. Looks like I will be getting a Black Berry 8800, I would prefer a Black Berry 8300 since it has a camera.
