Heather’s Engagement Ring

On Christmas Eve I proposed to Heather, I had hung the ring in the Christmas tree, we had my sisters over and her brothers Christmas Eve for a party. Really so that the families could get to meet each other. I had hung the ring in the tree, it was there all night and no one noticed. At the end of night after her brother’s left we started to clean up, it was about 1:00. Finally I said it is tradition in my family that you get to open a gift on Christmas Eve. So I opened the gift she gave me it was some pajamas’ and I have her ring box that I wrapped up. I had been hinting for an about three weeks that she would be getting a big Christmas gift this year, but indicating it was different things. I had her thinking a trip, a puppy or a Mini Cooper, I had even taken her to the dealer ship to pick out the color she wanted and had her clean out her car.

Anyway she opened the box and I had put toonie where the ring should go. She was like ok I am being a smart ass time for bed. I said no lets stand by the tree first that there could be something in the tree for her; she found it after about 5 minutes.

Engagement Ring

So Heather and I are now engaged here is a video of Heather calling her mother that night to tell her the good news. There is no date set as of yet, I think the earliest would be late 2008 more realistically it will be 2009.

I purchased the ring from Spence Diamonds in Mississauga Ontario and I would highly recommend that anyone who is looking to purchase an engagement ring consider Spence. They have a lot of rings in their show room and there staff is extremely knowledgeable. More importantly they did not try to apply pressure or to get me to purchase to spend more then I wanted to. So many people warned me that they jewelry stores would try to get you to spend more money then you wanted. Using the old how much you spend is direct correlation to how much you love her. Another common trick is to say that consider the purchase an investment, which is also laughable. Sine unless the marriage goes downhill who is going to sell their engagement ring? So really it is not an investment since you cannot cash in on any appreciated value.
