With my recent engagement to Jim comes the realization that some time in the nearer future I will be walking down the isle. After spending the past 2 weeks watching every wedding show I can find on TLC, SLICE and the Women’s Network I have had an opportunity to see how couples approach the idea of a wedding. One trend is common … the bride wants the ‘wow factor’ and wants to look good in her dress. Often brides set out to lose weight before their wedding as a part of this process. After seeing multiple TV brides with dresses too small (as they did not reach their goals) I recognize the drawbacks of ordering a smaller size ‘with the intent’ of losing weight by the time the wedding roles around. I am thus going to try to tone up and get in shape before ordering the dress.
I have tried for years to get myself back in shape, reclaim my ability to run, and generally shrink a few continually growing areas. My quest is not to be a thin bride, but a fit and healthy bride. As I have tried unsuccessfully for years I’m hoping that by posting on this blog, knowing my friends and family have access, that it will give me the extra push and accountability I need to keep going. Thus, today I begin my fitness quest … or to make it sounds more profound ‘The Quest of the Fit Bride’.
