As I mentioned late last year I picked up a Netgear SC101 NAS for my home network. I wanted to use for a central repository for pictures, so Heather could access them. I also wanted it as back up device.
We up it in I was very happy with it, it was easy to setup and seem to working well. I was very happy with it that is until I reinstalled my main computer, going from Vista to Windows XP.
When I installed the Netgear software and went to mount the drives I notice the SC101 is only showing 1 partition. I had setup it up with three partitions, one shared partition and a backup partition for myself and another one for Heather. But when I connect to the NAS it was only showing the share partition, needless to say I thought this was interesting.
I went up to Heathers computer and connect to the NAS and it showed two partition the shared partition and also her backup partition. However, the backup partition was showing as having a broken mirror. The shared drive which is also mirrored is showing fine.
Not sure what happened, I have spent maybe an hours over the last couple of weeks to resolve the issue. I have not had time to spend more time to get this resolved. I did some research on this it appears to be a very common issue that can be caused by many different issues.
I have posted on the official Netgear tech support forum and no one has replied. I will eventually get this resolved, but I have zero confidence in this device anymore. I have lost partition and another one has gotten corrupted, so two thirds of my partitions have failed.
